Knox Co. man facing felony murder charges

Knoxville (WVLT) - A 21-year-old Knox County man is behind bars in Sevier County, facing charges in the death of a Fountain City woman.

21-year-old Michael D. Wilson is being held in the Sevier County jail on unrelated charges, following an arrest Thursday.

Knoxville Police say when he is released, Wilson will be booked at the Knox County jail, on felony murder charges in the death of 50-year-old Vicki Wilson.

Vicki Wilson's daughter found her mother's body in the living room of her home, Thursday morning around 8:30am.

There's no word on a possible motive at this time.

A Fountain City mother was found dead in her home Thursday morning and her car was missing. Now authorities are questioning a man they're calling a "person of interest."

Neighbors tell us the victim was a quiet person who spent most of her time inside the home.

This peaceful neighborhood was transformed into a crime scene early Thursday morning. The body of 50-year-old Vicky Kay Wilson was found by her daughter on her living room floor.

"She had found her mother deceased officers responded to the scene we found female in living room," Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk said.

Grieving family members sat outside while investigators looked for clues in what they're now calling a homicide. Bridgett Cannon has lived down the road all her life. She was concerned by what she saw this morning.

"I just looked up and there was crime labs ambulances police cars," Cannon said. "I kinda got really worried when they put up the yellow crime tape."

Even though they lived nearby, they were really strangers.

"I didn't even know the mother was in the house never outside just kept to themselves," Cannon said.

Police have been questioning the neighbors, but all the residents we spoke with didn't hear a thing.

"My dog didn't even bark, and he barks at everything, and this is my bedroom right here so if it was loud I would have heard it," Cannon said.

Now police are trying to find the person who turned this quiet street into a murder scene.

Police found Wilson's 1998 Ford Windstar in a neighboring county. They are searching the van for evidence. They also detained the man who was in the van.
He's being questioned, but his name isn't being released.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Knoxville Police are investigating the suspicious death of a 50-year-old Knoxville woman whose body was found on Creekwood Drive in North Knoxville, and a person of interest has been detained in a nearby county, according the KPD spokesman Darrell DeBusk.

KPD says Vicki Wilson's body was found in the Fountain City living room by her daughter, who also lives in the house.

Police are considering her death a homicide.

Investigators say the circumstances surrounding Wilson's death are suspicious.

Knoxville Police spokesman Darrell DeBusk says, "We are currently canvassing outside the neighborhood to see who might have been in that residence overnight."

Her 1998 gold Ford Windstar minivan was missing from the property, but was later found in an outlying county. Police won't say where they found the van, but the driver has been detained as a "person of interest," according to DeBusk.
