ANDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - An Anderson County man has been charged after a homeowner found him inside his home Thursday morning.
Officers say the homeowner returned to his house on Edgemoor Road around 6:00 a.m. to find his van and motor home had been broken into and vandalized.
His rear door had also been damaged, but the door appeared secure and he didn't believe anybody had gone inside.
The homeowner called the sheriff's office and a deputy responded.
Numerous items had been removed from the vehicles and were stacked on a cart nearby and both vehicles had significant vandalism.
The homeowner then went inside and heard a voice coming from
the bedroom. He looked into the room and found someone lying in his bed.
Deputies arrested 31-year-old Michael Lee Smith who lives in a nearby apartment complex.
Smith appeared to be under the influence of drugs when arrested.
He has been charged with aggravated burglary and vandalism.
