Knoxville man dies after car falls 40 feet and hits tree

LANCING, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Knoxville man died after his car fell down a 40 foot embankment and hit a tree on Genisis Road in Lancing.

According to a report from Tennessee Highway Patrol, 57-year-old Charles Southern, Jr.'s car left the right side of the road, hit a mailbox, and fell down the embankment.

He was driving a 2005 Dodge Caravan.

THP reports he was not wearing a seat belt.

No drugs or alcohol were detected.
