Girl recovering in hospital after service truck hits her

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- An 11-year-old girl's recovering at UT Medical Center Friday morning after being hit by a cable service truck.

It all happened in the 2000 block of Keith Avenue off of Western Avenue.

Police say a dog ran out from behind a house, scaring her. She ran out into the road in front of the truck.

They say she was hurt, but was speaking when they transported her to the hospital.

Witnesses who held her while in pain, say it was a scary morning.

Richard Coffman a neighbor described, "It was like that terrible sound of a thud like you hear in the movies. She got knocked right in the center of Keith Street. She was bleeding out of her right side of her face. It looked like it hit her down her whole right side."
