Traffic death kills 2, 1 was lawmaker's brother

DRESDEN, Tenn. (AP) -- A West Tennessee traffic crash has killed both drivers -- one of them, the brother of a state legislator.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the crash occurred Wednesday on U.S. 79 in Henry County when a tractor trailer driven by 52-year-old Johnny Rippy of Henry collided with a car driven by 46-year-old Thomas Maddox of Dresden.

Maddox was the brother of state Rep. Mark Maddox of Dresden.

State Sen. Roy Herron said on Thursday he and Tommy Maddox grew up together and his death was "a great loss of a mighty good man."

The trooper's report stated the truck pulled into the path of the car at an intersection.
