Name released of man who died in THP custody in Loudon County

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says it is investigating the death of a man who was in Tennessee Highway Patrol custody.

Officials say 33-year-old Kevin Courtner died after his arrest. THP had him in custody in connection to a chase Friday evening on Interstate 40 in Loudon County.

The TBI tells Local 8 News that Courtner became combative while with troopers. They did attempt CPR.

We're told District Attorney General Russell Johnson requested the investigation.

An autopsy will be performed Saturday.
