Knoxville police officer hurt in West Knox County crash

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Knoxville police officer was taken to the hospital after a wreck on Ball Road near Dyestone Gap Road around 4:00 p.m. Friday.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office says a 16-year-old boy was trying to make a left turn when his SUV nearly hit the officer's cruiser head-on.

The unidentified officer was taken to U.T. Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The other driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Deputies say no citations were issued. The cruiser was towed from the scene about an hour later.
