KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A man was stabbed on Sevierville Pike around 4:00 a.m. Monday.

Police say they found 35-year-old Adam Wilburn near East Ford Valley with cuts on his torso.

Witnesses say the suspect, 50-year-old Donald Boots, was drinking throughout the day and into the night.

Officers say Wilburn and Boots got into a verbal fight, which escalated into a physical one.

Boots ran off before officers arrived, but they found him hiding in the woods with help from a canine.

Crews took the Wilburn to U.T. Medical Center with serious injuries, but they don't believe they're life-threatening.

Boots is charged with one count of Aggravated Assault. He is being held on a $20,000 bond.
