CLINTON, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Clinton man was shot Wednesday evening, and the man accused of shooting him to deputies that the victim fired first, according to an Anderson County Sheriff's Department incident report.
In the report, Deputy Brian Hubbard says officers responded to a report of someone shot on East Wolf Valley in Clinton. Officers found Jack L. Stockstill, 77, injured. His daughter-in-law told deputies that Donald Edward McGhee, 56, was drunk and shot Jack Stockstill with an automatic pistol or rifle, according to the incident report.
"McGhee struggled and fought with Deputy Mark Hobbs during (the arrest)," but he was taken into custody just after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on aggravated assault charges, according to the report.
In the report, Deputy Hubbard says McGhee told him that Jack Stockstill shot at McGhee first, and McGhee fired back.
