SEVIER COUNTY (WVLT) – A former civilian employee of the Sevier County sheriff's office who was charged with having sex with an inmate appeared in court on Monday morning.
Ty Paul Lintner of Sevierville was named in a six-count presentment returned by a grand jury two months ago. In it he was charged with multiple counts of sexual contact with an inmate. The incidents allegedly took place between September 2006 and February 2007.
Lintner has also been accused in two federal civil-rights lawsuits of sexually harassing two prisoners at the jail. The latest lawsuit was filed in July while a similar suit was filed in February.
On Monday, the judge Lintner’s next court appearance for January 20th. He will have the opportunity to enter a plea that day, and if he doesn’t, the judge will set trial date.
