KNOXVILLE (WVLT) – Police are looking for three men who allegedly broke into a Fort Sanders apartment on Monday evening. Investigators say it happened at 300 13th Street around 10:15 PM.
The resident said he was inside when someone knocked on his door. He opened it, at three men wearing black hooded sweatshirts rushed in and stole $240.00, a lap top and cell phone. They then fled on foot.
Police said one of the suspects was white, the second was black, and they could not identify the race of the third. They are still searching for witnesses who may have seen the suspects flee. They also are warning residents in “The Fort” about what to do if someone knocks on their door.
“We’re encouraging all residents to check outside their door to make sure they know who is on the other side before they open it and allow someone in,” said Lt. Shawna Williams of the Knoxville Police Department.
If you have any information about the robbery, call police at (865) 215-7212.
