Evening rain showers will change to a sleet and wet snow mix late tonight. Trace to 2 inches for the Valley, but more for the Plateau and Smokies. While most of it will stick on grassy surfaces initially, please drive carefully, as visibilities will drop with the burst of snow.
Nashville (AP) - Tennessee's unemployment rate in august dropped slightly to 5.7% from July's 5.9%.
State Jobs Commissioner James Neeley attributed the lowered rate to the addition of 10,000 jobs in government education services as school went back into session after the summer break.
Other increases were in administrative support/waste services, with three-thousand jobs added, and trade/transportation/utilities, with 2,300 jobs added.
Seasonal decreases took place in art and entertainment, which lost 400 jobs, and information, also losing 400 jobs.
Between August 2005 and August 2006, total employment was up by about 88,000 jobs.
