(WVLT) - State transportation officials say a just few days of paving will hamper traffic on the west side of Knoxville and then a massive interstate 40/75 project will be over. Drivers have been dealing with lane restrictions and shifting lanes for four years between Papermill Drive and Gallaher View Road. T-Dot spokesman Travis Brickey says the paving will be done overnight, beginning today. Brickey says local drivers should stay off the highway between 8:00pm and 6:00am for the next few days. There will be one-lane traffic for three and a half miles. The contractor says workers will concentrate on the westbound lanes of 40/75 today and tomorrow. The project manager says the paving should be wrapped up in two weeks. The $62 million dollar project began in January 2003.
