KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Authorities have identified the 76 year-old woman killed in wreck on Dutch Valley Dr. NE on Tuesday morning.
Police reports indicate Jewell Davis came to a stop at the Plummer Rd. NE intersection before her 2005 Nissan Altima pulled in front of a Dodge Durango around 7:40 a.m. Davis was rushed to UT Medical Center where she later died. A KPD spokesperson said she was not wearing a seat belt.
All three people in the Durango, including two children, were sent to the hospital as well. Police also noted the driver, Beth Scates, was not wearing a seat belt and the children were not properly restrained.
Charges are pending the conclusion of the investigation.
A wreck in north Knoxville has shut down a stretch of Dutch Valley Dr. NE while incident response teams investigate the scene. The street is closed near Plummer Rd. NE while teams reconstruct the incident.
According to police, four people, including two young children, were taken to the hospital when a car collided with an SUV in the 1300 block of Dutch Valley Dr. shortly before 8:00 a.m.
An elderly driver who was alone in one of the vehicle was rushed to the hospital in with life threatening injuries.
