Knoxville (WVLT) - Knox County, like many southern counties, continues to grow rapidly. Everyday there seems to be more construction, more homes, more buildings, and more roadways, but is there enough green space left?
Are there enough parks for your children to play in?
The future of the Parks, Recreation, and Greenway programs is being debated right now.
This is the first time the City of Knoxville and Knox County Parks and Rec are teaming up to update the park area in the county.
At Thursday's public meeting they're asking for your input before they update their long range park plan, that's done once every ten years.
The reason this is a joint effort is that most people use both city and county parks without differentiating between the two. This way organizers hope the entire public's opinion can help create a community idea through the parks system.
This is the first of eight meetings. If you cant attend you can get online and fill out a survey for them, you can find a list of meeting times dates and places at www.knoxmpc.org
