Knoxville (WVLT) - It's happened before, but rarely in broad daylight.
One man is killed after being shot at an East Knoxville convienience store, leaving police with more questions than answers.
"Somebody knows something, you know it was broad daylight, who would do that in broad daylight and nobody knows what happened?" bystander Toya Johnson said.
That answer seemed to sum up what most were thinking Thursday at the Bilo convienence store on MLK Avenue. What we do know is the victim, 32-year-old Terry Roundtree was shot multiple times Thursday afternoon.
"She just said a guy got shot three times in the face, and in the back and he was dead when they got here," Johnson said.
Knoxville police confirm Roundtree was dead on arrival at UT Medical Center a short time later.
"It appears the individual that was shot, his vehicle's on sight here in the parking lot and it appears he had driven up, so he was a customer," Sgt. Shawna Williams said.
But what really frustrated neighbors and police was the fact no one admitted to seeing, or hearing much of anything, at the normally busy time of 4:30 in the afternoon.
"We have no statement really to indicate what happened no one in the crowd seems to have seen it. We're hoping some folks will come forward and talk to us on the phone and give us more detail," Williams said.
"Three cameras all under surveillance, so how are you not going to know?" bystander Crusha Ayers said.
KPD tells us a K-9 tracking dog was sent out, but came back with nothing. The surveillance tapes will also be examined to hopefully figure out who the suspect is. Dispatchers tell us police are looking for a black man who fled the scene wearing a black hoodie and black cap.
