Knoxville (WVLT) - A Delta Airlines 767, still full of passengers, is sitting on the tarmac at McGhee Tyson Airport after making an emergency landing here just before 2:00 p.m.

Delta Flight 21 was en route from Paris to Atlanta when the crew smelled a smoky odor in the cabin.

As a precaution the jet was diverted here.

The 179 passengers are not allowed to deplane and enter the terminal because Mcghee-Tyson does not have a US Customs office.

But, Delta's got another jet on the way to Knoxville to pick up the passengers.

They should leave here about 5:45 p.m.

So far officials still haven't figured out what caused the smoky odor.
