Cumberland Gap, Claiborne County (WVLT) - Police say they think they know who is responsible for the double murder in a Claiborne County package store, and that person may also be dead.

Officials with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation believe William Ashby could be connected to the September 28th death of Ralph Hopper and Julie Maiden at Tunnel II Package Store in Cumberland Gap.

Ashby was shot and killed by authorities in St. John's County, Florida following a high-speed chase Monday night.

William Ashby has been linked by authorities to a string of at least five murders throughout the Southeast, including a store clerk in Georgia and a University of Virgina student.
