LOCAL 8 WEATHER ALERT: Strong to severe storms are possible this afternoon with gusty winds near 40 mph and 1" hail. Localized flooding is also a concern as over an inch of rain is possible in places today.
Jacksboro, Campbell County (WVLT) - The accused Campbell County High School shooter and his father both appeared in court this morning.
Once again Kenny Bartley Junior's hearing has been delayed, this time till November sixth.
The 14-year-old appeared calm and attentive as the judge explained that his attorney must file motions in one week and those motions will be heard November 6th and a trial date should be set as well.
The judge even stated that this matter is lingering. Bartley is charged with shooting and killing Campbell County High School's assistant principal and shooting two other administrators. Ken Bruce's widow and two sons appeared frustrated with the delay today. Bartley's father was there to support his son.
But he was also there for his own hearing involving a gambling sting. Kenny Bartley Senior entered a plea of guilty to possession of a gambling device, a Class B Misdemeanor. Judge Sexton sentenced him to six months of unsupervised probation and more than $5,000 in fines that Bartley paid today.
If Bartley stays out of trouble during the next six months the charges will be dismissed and his record will be expunged.
In the meantime, we'll see what happens with Kenny Bartley Junior on November sixth.
