New York (CBS/AP) - Nashville, Tenn. (AP) -- The small plane that crashed Wednesday into a New York skyscraper was apparently headed to Nashville.
Dave Whitis, a friend of New York Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle who was on the plane, told radio station WGFX that the player had called him around 11:30 this morning to say he was planning to fly to Nashville later in the day.
Whitis also quoted Lidle as saying he had a flight instructor with him and that there were weather cells around Nashville that might prevent him from landing in the city.
Lidle is presumed killed in the crash.
Additionally, a spokeswoman for the union station hotel in Nashville said Lidle had a room reservation for the night.
Lidle said earlier this week in new york that he planned to fly back to California and make a few stops along the way.
