WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WVLT/ AP) -- Southbound lanes of I-75 in Whitley County, Ky. were blocked near exit 15 due to a deadly crash involving two semi-trucks late Monday morning, Kentucky State Police confirm.

The wreck happened around 11:15, and Spokeswoman Robin Jenkins of the Kentucky transportation cabinet says there was one fatality in the fiery crash that shut down traffic in both directions. A commercial vehicle, which was still burning midafternoon Monday, collided with a privately owned vehicle.

Volunteer TV producer Meredith McMahon was traveling on I-75 at the time of the crash and reported seeing heavy fire coming from at least one of the trucks.
