Campaign Flier Fails To Note That Candidate Is Dead

Houston (AP) -- A slick campaign mailer shows a smiling Texas State Representative and reminds voters of her achievements in education, economics and politics.

But it fails to mention that she's dead.

Republican Glenda Dawson died in September but her campaign continues. Campaign officials hope she'll win re-election for a two-year term over the Democratic challenger. If she wins, Governor Rick Perry would call a special election to fill the vacancy in the heavily Republican district near Houston.

The man overseeing her campaign says the new flier was prepared as a "tribute" to Dawson and doesn't try to conceal her death, although there's no mention of it on the mailer.
