Nashville (AP) -- A corporate real estate magazine ranks Tennessee among the top five best business locations in the country.
In the November issue, Site Selection ranked the states based on responses from corporate site selectors and the state's performance in four different categories, including new or expanded facilities in 2005.
Tennessee was placed at fifth with North Carolina topping the list. Governor Bredesen said the announcement reinforces his belief that the state is on the right path.
Fortune 500 company Service Master Company also announced last week plans to move their headquarters to Memphis.
Matthew Kisber of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development said new and expanding businesses in the state have created 103,000 new jobs since 2003.
The publication listed Tennessee's investment in pre-kindergarten education, the expansion of lottery scholarships and the expansion of the number of businesses eligible for tax credits as factors that created a positive business environment.
