A Local 8 Weather Alert has been issued for Wednesday morning (the busiest travel day of the year), due to the cold rain and wet snow mix expected across East Tennessee. While it may be a cold rain in the Valley, drivers headed toward the Smokies or the Tri-Cities are more likely to encounter moderate wet snow showers. Please be advised.
Walland, Blount County (WVLT) - The school bus is being called a total loss, but one Blount County driver is lucky to have escaped serious injury when the bus he was driving fell down an embankment.
According to the Blount County Sheriff, the right front tire went off East Millers Cove Road in Walland, which is a narrow road, earlier this morning.
Sixty-seven-year-old Marion Creg could not regain control of bus number 33.
After falling down the embankment, it went through a fence and into a field. Luckily, there were no children on the bus; some had just been let off at Walland Elementary just minutes before the accident happened.
Creg, who sustained minor injuries, was en route to pick up middle and high school students.
