Updated: Rash Spreads, Now 6 Shootings in Knox County

Knoxville (WVLT) – A rash of shootings in Knox County has officers scrambling after eight people are shot, including two that have died.

There was one in Powell, three in East Knoxville, one in South Knoxville and another in North Knoxville.

The latest incident happened just after 5:00 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of Townview Drive off of Summit Hill.

Authorities say 19-year-old Anthony Dewayne Brabson was shot in the shoulder in a courtyard at Townview Towers, then walked to a nearby school. There, school officials called 911.

Brabson was taken an area hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The suspect is known only as "Keith." He's a black male, 5'10", 150lbs with braided hair and a beard. If you have any information, your asked to call 215-7212.

Around 7:00 p.m. Sunday, police say 16-year-old Daaron Goins was shot and killed in North Knoxville when he and an 18-year-old boy were playing with a rifle that accidentally went off and shot him in the head.

Early Sunday morning, KPD says 27-year-old Bobbie Gartin was shot in her stomach and taken to Baptist Hospital. They say she was shot while walking down Avenue A in South Knoxville.

Late Saturday night, around 10:30 p.m., police say 18-year-old Gregory Duff and 22-year-old Cobie Curry were shot while sitting in their while sitting in their Chevy Suburban on MLK and Holston Drive.

KPD says Curry will be arrested on outstanding warrants for attempted armed robbery, aggravated burglary and vandalism as soon as he is released from the hospital.

KPD says around 4:30 Saturday afternoon, 15-year-old Shalemare Fulton and 17-year-old Larry Cates were injured in what appears to be a drive-by shooting.

Officials now have a $50,000 warrant out for a wanted suspect for aggravated assault in the shooting, the name of the suspect has not yet been released.

Fulton and Cates were treated and released from UT Medical Center.

And the first in this string of shootings happened in Powell, where the body of 53-year-old David Lindsey, a Walgreens truck driver, was found this around 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

He had apparently been shot in his head and leg.

Lindsey later died at UT Medical Center.
