Trial Date Set for Man Accused of Driving Wrong Way on Interstate, Killing 3

Knoxville (WVLT) - In other news, it will be May of next year before a man charged with killing three teenagers while driving the wrong way on I-640 goes to trial.

Volunteer TV's Kim Bedford spoke with some family members of one of the victims.

Mark, a judge set a May 14th trial date today for Clint Walker.

The 33-year-old has been in jail since September when he turned himself in to face six counts of vehicular homicide.

Some family members of victim Jessica Jones say they'll be fighting for her every step of the trial.

"Now they're saying May...Jessica's going to be dead a year in February," says Tonya Dudley Jessica's aunt.

February 25, 2006, Police allege Clint Walker was driving drunk when he crashed his pickup truck into a car, killing 20-year-old Nicholas McMillan, his 17-year old brother Joshua, and 18 year old Jessica Jones.

"He's just ruined our whole family's life. It'll never be the same again," Dudley says.

Jessica's two aunts, Tonya Dudley and Patricia Jones, sat in court this morning, in support of their niece.

"I've never had children. She was the closest thing I had to having a child," says Patricia Jones.

"I had to be here for Jessica. She would want us to fight this till the end and we're going to," Tonya says.

But the end won't be nearing until at least May.

"I'm ready for it, but I'm scared they're not gonna give him what we think he deserves," Patricia.

Dudley and Jones say Walker showed no remorse.

"I hope he gets life in prison for killing three people and my favorite niece . She was just so innocent," says Tonya.

"He's a straight-out killer and he needs time, a lot of time, a lot of time, to think about taking a member of my family, especially a child," Patricia adds.

A child they'll be without for the holidays this year.

"Last Christmas I can remember everything about Jessica," Tonya says.

Dudley has a message for her niece as she counts down the days to May 14th. "Jessica, this is for you today, sweetie. We'll be here at this trial each and every day. We're going to fight so hard for you."

Walker faces six counts of vehicular homicide, each vehicular homicide charge carries a prison sentence of 8 to 12 years. That's a minimum of 48 years for the 33-year old, if he's convicted.

But there's really no telling what could happen at this trial in May.
