Nashville, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee's unemployment rate in October dropped to 4.5% from September's rate of 4.6%.

The state rate is slightly higher than the 4.4% national figure for October.

Between October 2005 and October 2006, trade, transportation and utilities jobs increased by ten-thousand. Jobs in leisure and hospitality rose by 8,700 and educational and health services jobs increased by 7,400.

Decreases for the year were in manufacturing, food and beverage store jobs and administrative, support and waste services.
