Alcoa, Blount County (WVLT) - Just before the holidays, Alcoa announces it's cutting 6,700 jobs worldwide.
Kevin Lowery, spokesperson for Alcoa, tells WVLT as far as here in East Tennessee, a total of 20 positions will be cut from the local Alcoa plant which employees about 2,000 people.
It's all part of a plan to boost profits.
The company says it's forming a joint venture with the Sapa Group, a Norwegian company.
