Pentagon (AP) -- Sometime early next year, about 3,500 reserve troops can expect to get the word that they'll be making a return trip to Iraq.
Pentagon officials say they'll be in four Combat Engineer Battalions from around the US, though there's no decision yet on which will go.
The officials say they'll likely be sent to Baghdad, in part to improve security in the capital, where violence has been on the rise.
Joint Chiefs Chairman General Peter Pace won't confirm whether more troops are planned for Baghdad. But he says it's one of several ideas being considered.
