New York (AP) -- Three students from oak ridge high school today won the top team prize in a premier national science competition.
Scott Molony, Steven Arcangeli and Scott Horton took the team honors in the Siemens Competition in Math, Science and Technology in New York City.
The prize includes $100,000, which the youths will share equally.
Their project was the development of a promising technique that could one day help scientists engineer BioFuel from plants.
The individual prize was won by Dmitry Vaintrob, a senior at south Eugene High School in Eugene. He also won $100,000. His work was in researching an abstract new area of math called string topology.
