Knoxville (WVLT) - All lanes are back open at this hour and a University of Tennessee Police Officer is recovering, following an early morning crash on Henley Street.
The Knoxville Police Department says 27-year-old Officer Orlando Dixon was driving a marked UT vehicle north on Henley Street just before six this morning, when a Lexus SUV passed the car at a high rate of speed.
Officers say Dixon was attempting to catch the SUV, when he hit the curb and lost control; Dixon crossed the traffic lanes and hit the eastside concrete wall.
He was treated and released from UT Medical Center.
