Knoxville (WVLT) - Two Knoxville police officers get a special honor for their part in apprehending the man accused of shooting a security guard at Halls High School.

Police Chief Sterling Owen says when the shooting happened on Halloween night, Officer Richard Wallace placed himself in a stationary position on I-75 in case the suspect, Carroll Lineberry, happened to take that route.

He spotted a car traveling at a high rate of speed and called for backup.

Officer Michael Price arrived to assist Officer Wallace and together they were able to apprehend Lineberry.

Today, Chief Owen awarded them both the Officer of the Month award.
