Roane County (WVLT) - A chain reaction crash involving an ambulance and several other vehicles in Roane County Thursday night kept authorities busy.
About six vehicles were involved in the accident that happened just before 8:30 p.m. on I-40 east bound at the 350 mile marker.
Authorities say it all started when a vehicle cut in front of a tractor trailer, causing the semi to jackknife. That set off a chain reaction involving at least half a dozen vehicles, including a Roane County ambulance that was on its way to an emergency call. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt.
People involved in the crash tell us the crash could have been much worse.
"We're very lucky. God had us in His hands. Look at my car, it's totaled," said Lindsay Smith, who was involved in the crash.
Two emergency workers inside the ambulance were taken to a nearby hospital just as a precaution.
