Baghdad, Iraq (AP) -- Iraqi state-run television reports that Saddam Hussein has been hanged.
Also hanged were Saddam's half-brother Barzan Ibrahim and Awad Hamed Al-Bandar, the former chief justice of the Revolutionary Court.
An announcer for Iraqiya television said "criminal saddam was hanged to death and the execution started with criminal Saddam then Barzan then Awad Al-Bandar."
The hanging came 56 days after Saddam was convicted and sentenced to death for his role in the killing of more than 100 Shiite Muslims in 1982.
Iraq's highest court rejected an appeal of Saddam's conviction on Monday.
Lawyers also filed unsuccessful last-ditch efforts with U.S. courts.
