Knoxville (WVLT) - A man is behind bars in Knoxville accused of robbing a bank by telling the workers he had a bomb. Police say the man went into the Regions Bank on Kingston Pike Tuesday afternoon and told the tellers to give him money. He said if they did not, he would set off a bomb. Later in the evening, investigators received a tip about a man matching the robber's description at a local hotel. Officers arrested 42 year-old Weaver Eugene McNabb, Jr. of Powell at the Howard Johnson on Kingston Pike. Knoxville police say after some questioning, McNabb confessed to the robbery. They say he will be charged with one count of robbery.
