Knoxville (WVLT) - Many East Tennessee school districts are closing early today because of snow-related concerns.
The most recent, Cumberland County Schools and Scott County Schools, will close at 1:00 p.m.
The biggest district is the Sevier County School District. They are dismissing at 10:15 because of snow concerns.
Union County Schools and Grainger County Schools also dismissed early today as the snow becan to move east toward the mountains.
Claiborne County, Fentress County, Morgan County, and Bell County, Kentucky also closed today.
At 10 am, most road crews report only wet roads, but it's snowing in many communities.
Volunteer TV LIVE Super Pinpoint 8 Weather Meterologist Scott Blalock says this band of snow will last about another hour and may produce a dusting of snow with up to 1 to 3 inches in the mountains.
Blalock says most areas in East Tennessee are above freezing right now and he says snow should change to light rain by the afternoon.
Cold air will follow this light snow and temperatures will fall into the 20s tonight.
Wind Chills by tomorrow morning will be in the teens.
