Ford to Teach Politics Class at Vanderbilt

Nashville (AP) -- Former Congressman and senate candidate Harold Ford Junior has a new job.

Ford has been appointed Visiting Professor of Public Policy at Vanderbilt University. He will teach a seminar on "Foundations of American Political Leadership" to undergraduates during the semester which starts this week.

Vanderbilt Chancellor Gordon Gee says ford has a unique insight into politics and government to share with students.

Ford received a bachelor's degree in American History from the University of Pennsylvania and a law degree from the University of Michigan.

He served in Congress for five terms, succeeding his father, Harold Ford Senior.

Ford ran last year for the senate seat former Majority Leader Bill Frist was vacating, but lost to Republican Bob Corker by less than three percentage points.
