Knoxville (WVLT) - One of the most anticipated events for senior citizens in East Tennessee came together Wednesday.
As we told you Tuesday, the first ever Senior Summit is set for May 17th in Knoxville.
Today, 17 mayors from East Tennessee, including Knox County Mayor Mike Ragsdale, showed their support for the event.
In the coming weeks, assigned delegates will discuss the agenda, its topics, as well as the speakers.
"We're going to have meaty issues, how can you protect yourself, the goal of course we hope one of the goals is to crate a clearing house where a citizen in East Tennessee can call one number and get immediate information. Is it a scam, the guy that wants to pave your driveway?" says District Attorney General Randy Nichols.
On May 17th at the Expo Center, featured speakers from around the country will address topics ranging from fraud abuse to neglect.
We'll keep you posted as the event gets closer.
