Greeneville, Greene County (AP) -- A former Greeneville banker faces sentencing in April after pleading guilty to embezzling thousands of dollars from his employer.
Court records show 44-year-old Jon Michael Quarles entered his plea Friday in federal district court in Greeneville.
While the plea was to embezzlement of more than $1,000, Quarles was accused of taking $350,000 from the Greene County bank, where he was a vice president and loan officer.
The bank fired him in 2005. He resigned his elected position as a member of the Greeneville Water Commission on Thursday.
As part of Quarles' plea agreement, he waived his right to indictment by a grand jury and his right to a jury trial. He remains free on bond while he awaits sentencing on April 16.
