(WVLT) - It's now going to be a little tougher to get into the US, even for some Americans.
Starting today, travelers coming from all counties, now including Canada, Mexico, and Bermuda, will have to show a passport.
Up to now, a driver's license or birth certificate would have worked.
The new requirement was mandated by congress after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
It applies initially only to air travel, but starting as early as next January, passports will also be required also for land and sea travelers.
To get a passport for the first time, you must apply in person.
You also must bring the following items: two photographs of yourself, proof of US citizenship, and a valid form of identification (such as a drivers license)
