Sevier deputies now investigating death of woman found in SUV as homicide

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Sevier County Sheriff's investigators are taking a second look at a death that was first thought to be the result of a traffic accident.

Deputies say Shannon Hercutt, 40, was found dead down an embankment inside her SUV off Walker Trail on Aug. 3. Her death is now being investigated as a traffic accident.

A release from the Sevier County Sheriff's Office did not say what caused investigators to take a new look at Hercutt's death, except to say that "new information came to the attention of authorities."
