Knoxville (WVLT) - The wait continues on the Cumberland Avenue Strip, where water is shut off to about nine businesses.
The water main break happened overnight Tuesday. KUB crews say the break is between 18th and 19th.
There have been traffic backups all day long because only one lane is open in each direction around the break.
KUB crews have been digging much of the day to find and repair the break.
As soon as that's done, the water can come back on, but TDOT crews will still have to work on getting the road repaired.
For restaurants like the Copper Cellar, the water loss kept them dry financially on one of the busiest days of the week. Workers at the Sunspot reported to WVLT that their water was turned back on just before 8:30 p.m.
"I just really feel bad for the kids because they love coming out and enjoying burger day prices and the burgers we have and I just feel sorry for them because it's like a ritual for them every week to come out every week and enjoy that," says Jamie Wills, Copper Cellar manager.
