Man Accused of Trying To Electrocute Wife

Oak Ridge (WVLT) - An Oak Ridge man is in custody after police say he tried to throw his wife into a bathtub filled with electrical appliances.

Oak Ridge police charged 27-year-old Travis Crowley with especially aggravated kidnapping and attempted first degree murder. Police say Crowley punched his wife, forced her in a car and drove her to their home on Newcomb Drive. Once there, he filled the bathtub with several appliances and a hair dryer and had an extension cord plugged in nearby.

"They ended up forcing the door open, and encountering her and the wife and husband in the residence. At that point, the husband ran in to the kitchen area from the bathroom area of the residence and took a couple of knives, and we had to subdue him. They had to use the taser to subdue him and arrest him," said Alan Massengill from the Oak Ridge Police Department.

Authorities tell us Crowley had just recently been released from jail on domestic related issues.

If you suspect someone you know may be a victim of domestic violence, here are some warning signs:
The perpetrator is intrusive, always needing to know where you're going and who you're with.
They insist you spend all or most of your free time together, cutting you off from friends and family.
They're possessive and jealous and get angry when things don't go their way.
They also attempt to make all your decisions.
