Federal Judge Throws Out Lawsuit on Charter Dispute

By: WVLT Staff

Knoxville (WVLT) - A federal judge has denied a lawsuit filed by a Knoxville attorney requesting special elections to replace the twelve term-limited officials.

Herb Moncier sought the injunction on behalf of his client, Carl Seider, a former write-in candidate for sheriff.

Their goal had been to prevent county commissioners from choosing replacements at their special called meeting Wednesday.

In denying the motion, US District Judge Thomas Varlan did so with prejudice, meaning that Moncier cannot re-file the same claim at a later date.

We're keeping a close eye who the term-limited 12 are recommending to replace them Wednesday. We'll have the complete lists tonight at 5:30 and 6.
