Al Gore Nominated For Nobel Peace Prize

Oslo, Norway (AP) -- Former Vice President, and Tennessee native, Al Gore has been nominated for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to draw attention to the dangers of global warming.

A Norwegian lawmaker who nominated Gore says a prerequisite to winning the prize is making a difference and that in his opinion, "Al Gore has made a difference." The Norwegian says no one has done more to put climate change on the agenda.

As Vice President, Gore pushed for climate measures, including the Kyoto Treaty. He later put out a critically-acclaimed documentary on climate change, "An Inconvenient Truth," which has been nominated for an Academy Award.

The winner of the Nobel Peace Prize is traditionally announced in mid-October, with the prize always presented on the December 10th anniversary of the death of its creator, Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel.
