Knoxville (WVLT) - Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam's annual budget retreat is underway.
Halfway through each fiscal year, Mayor Haslam gets together with the city council, city department heads and staff members to talk about the state of the budget.
Mayor Haslam says it's encouraging to see the long-term financial plan for the city is actually working.
"I think the city's in really good, strong financial shape, course, that's important to our taxpayers. they want to know that the city can keep providing great services at a low price and so I think the good news is, we're in stronger financial shape than we've been at anytime in the last ten years," says Mayor Haslam.
Mayor Haslam says Monday's retreat begins the budget process that will formally be presented in April.
