Alcoa, Blount County (WVLT) - One person is dead following a two-car crash on Alcoa highway in Blount County.
Authorities say an 82-year-old Des Moines, Iowa man was traveling north in the right lane of Alcoa Highway, when he attempted to cross over the left lane to get to the median.
He was hit by an SUV, driven by 24-year-old Nicholas Hannah of Maryville, who was traveling in the same direction.
The Iowa man was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife was transported to UT Medical Center, Hannah was taken to Blount Memorial with non-life threatening injuries.
The names of the Iowa man and his wife have not been released.
