Man and Firefighters Hurt in House Fire

East Knoxville (WVLT) - A house fire in East Knoxville has injured a man and two firefighters.

The fire started at a home on Oakland Street just after 7:00pm Sunday night.

Captain Darrell Whitaker of the Knoxville Fire Department tells us that one person was in the house when firefighters arrived.

He was taken to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Two firefighters were treated for back problems, but they have since been released from the hospital.

Authorities say that the people who owned the house were not in it at the time.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
