Knoxville (WVLT) -- A fire this morning destroyed the Volunteer Highway Supply Company on Maynardville Pike.
Fire crews were dispatched to the fire at around 10:30 after receiving several calls about thick black smoke and the sound of explosions in the area.
A neighboring YMCA was evacuated as fire fighters sprayed water onto tanks containing chemicals around building to prevent them from exploding.
The company housed in the building paints lines on roads. According to the owner, their were employees in the building at the time of the fire and one was welding when the fire started. No injuries have been reported.
The business has been around for 25 years.
