Suspects Indicted In Trooper's Shooting Death

Covington, Tenn. (AP) -- A Tipton County grand jury has indicted two Texas teenagers on first-degree murder and drug charges in the shooting death of a state trooper in January.

Seventeen-year-old Alejandro Gouna and 19-year-old Orlando Garcia, both from Austin, are charged with killing highway patrol trooper Calvin Jenks during what was apparently a routine traffic stop in rural Tipton County north of Memphis on January 6th.

Prosecutors have said about three pounds of marijuana were found in a Nashville motel room where the two were arrested the day following the killing.

Both face a charge of possessing a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

The teens have been held without bond since being arrested and are scheduled for arraignment Thursday.
